Business Development Manager UK

The Virtual Forge is an international company with offices in the UK, Portugal, UAE, Canada and the US. We are experts in designing and developing data driven software solutions for the cloud and we are looking for a talented Business Development Manager to join our international team.

In this position, you'll be instrumental in broadening our outreach and engaging with potential new clients through networking events in London, your own network and outreach proactively.

It’s very important for this position to identify and anticipate client needs, working with The Virtual Forge team to develop solutions to meet those needs and maintain long-term relationships with clients that help ensure growth in the services provided by us.

As a Business Development Manager, you will be actively growing our list of clients, creating new business opportunities:

  • Identify proactively new business opportunities: research potential clients, understand their needs and pain points, and identify new business opportunities
  • Foster your network and relationships and identify potential business opportunities through existing relationships and network
  • Build and maintain relationships with prospects or clients to foster long-term partnerships
  • Develop sales strategies: to pitch our software development services to clients, highlighting the unique value proposition and competitive advantages of The Virtual Forge
  • Generate leads and close deals, negotiating contracts and finalise agreements with clients
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams work closely with the software development team, project managers, and other stakeholders to ensure that client needs are met in contracts
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends
  • Track and analyse sales performance
  • Work with the marketing team to help implement new campaigns

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Identify new business opportunities with new prospects
  • Develop and implement your own sales strategies and continually refining with market conditions
  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities
  • Manage the sales pipeline
  • Flexibility. Affect change within both The Virtual Forge and client organisations
  • Continuous Learning. Ongoing research regarding client, client’s business, and
  • related services/products
  • Stay up to date with industry trends. Stay informed about new technologies, market trends and industry developments 
  • Attend industry events and conferences to network with potential clients and partners on a weekly basis
  • Generate feedback or input to sales and marketing team from what you hear at events, trade shows or discussions with prospective clients
  • Mentor and coach junior sales team members.

Essential Skills:

  • Proven experience in frontline sales roles, in the technology or contracted services sector.
  • A proven track record of winning software development and data deals
  • Technical knowledge, good understanding of software development methodologies
  • Strong sales and negotiation skills with a proven track record
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with ability to translate to both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Ability to influence client stakeholders at all levels to secure business
  • Established connections within the technology industry
  • Sector experience in technology, financial services, pharmaceutical or manufacturing
  • Time management skills are essential to manage multiple projects
  • Interpersonal skills
  • Understanding of the business drivers related to Data and software development and
  • services, and be extremely proficient and relentless in prospecting and relationship
  • building throughout client organisations
  • Understanding of performance improvement services and their application within business organisations
  • Great organisational and communication skills
  • Computer literate in office applications and CRM
  • Oral and written communication skills
  • Strategic thinking skills
  • Established relationships with major accounts preferred
  • Keen to develop professionally and progress within the organisation
