Backend Developer

About us:

The Virtual Forge is an international company with offices in the UK, Portugal and the US. We are experts in designing and developing data driven software solutions for the cloud and we are looking for a talented Backend Developer to join our international team. 

You will be expected to work three days per week in our lovely Lisbon office and two days remotely from home, following a hybrid work model.

Role Overview:

In these roles, the developers will require flexibility to adapt to client’s needs, excellent communication and organisational skills. They will need to demonstrate evidence of problem-solving and working well under pressure. The ideal candidates will bring an enthusiastic approach, with an ability to estimate and manage their own tasks as the system is built. This is a great opportunity to secure a role with an exciting rapidly growing organisation.

About you:

• Recent experience with .NET (C#)
• Recent experience with Python
• A minimum of + 3 years solid .NET and Python
• Extensive SQL experience (MySQL and MSSQL)
• Experience with integrating cloud services (AWS and/or Azure)
• GIT
• Azure Devops
• Experience designing systems from scratch
• Experience of integration with various different third party APIs
• Ability to accurately estimate task times.
• Ability to report to the project manager and/or team lead in a concise and clear fashion
• Ability to manage your own time and plan tasks with the team
• Ability to take part in scrum ceremonies and code reviews, to give and receive feedback efficiently

Preferred Skills:

• Experience with integrating AI services such as LLMs, Computer Vision, or Speech & Audio Processing
• Experience with AI Agents development and the use of development frameworks such as LangChain
• An interest in developing applications that follow high standards of performance and security
• Experience of working with nearshore and remote teams
